We are wrapping up our books and we’ve almost logged enough hours. So, this “school year” is almost over. While we are transitioning into a school year round mode this summer, we will still not carry as heavy of a load and won’t strap ourselves down to formal school every day. But I wanted to make a memory of what this year has done and what milestones the children have reached.
Maggie is perfecting her cursive, reading chapter books, writing short stories, and having perfected long division she is moving onto all things fractions. She is also becoming quit the homemaker as she now daily cleans the kitchen, bakes cheesescakes for her Grandma (not daily of course!!) and can fold a load of laundry almost as well as I can. And man, you should hear this girl on the piano!!
Maggie – 4th grade Loves reading, writing letters, and playing the piano. Has finally mastered multiplication tables and cursive writing. |
Samantha is still our little crafter. She can finger knit a scarf in a matter of minutes and can even do it with up to four strands of yarn at one time!! She can most often be seen making cards, signs, or some other crafty gift for her friends or family. She is excelling in reading and her mastery of math facts is coming right along.
Samantha – 2nd grade Loves math and art and helping others. She has improved her penmanship this year and is working on borrowing and carrying in math. |
Josiah is my ALL BOY boy. He started school this fall and much to everyone’s surprise he loves it. He thoroughly enjoys his copywork, and loves to “read” books with mommy. He is adding with sums up to ten like a pro. And is starting to put sounds together and matching sounds with pictures. It is moving slower than I would like but it is what is best for him right now. So we are going with it.
Josiah – Kindergarten Adding and subtracting, letter sounds, and writing words, this is what fills Josiah’s day right now. |
Katherine. Well, she is the same old Kate. She makes us all smile with her cuteness and she is too smart for her own good. She knows all of her colors, can count almost to 20 and is starting to write her name. She can color in the lines and has learned how to trace and cut most letters and lines.
Katherine – Always busy with paper and crayons and sisscors and glue. She might only be 3 but she thinks she is “in” school. |
This has been one of our best homeschooling years yet. We have all loved it and have learned and grown so much. And the growth has not only been in books either. We have grown in faith, in relationships, and in love. And that, my dear friends, is why we homeschool.
I love this post! It made my day knowing that a good friend is having a wonderful school year and just really loving what they do. God Bless :)
