Even though it was 75 degrees here in Missouri and we played at the park for hours in short sleeves instead of wearing hats and gloves to walk to the car it is December. And with December comes Christmas. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing with you lots of ideas for keeping Christ the center of Christmas in your heart and your home. But for today I wanted to share with you what we are trying for the first time. I have labeled envelopes with a day between now and Christmas. The envelopes are “hidden” in the tree for the children to hunt for each afternoon/evening. Then we do what is inside of them.
Here is a list of a few of the ideas I have included so far (I am making them up as we go so that I know that our daily plans will work with the envelope’s idea) –
1. Names of Jesus scriptures
2. Make paper snowflakes
3. Attend a Christmas program
4. Bake Christmas goodies for someone.
5. Act out the Christmas story and video tape it.
And I will be adding more as the month goes on.
So, with Christmas music playing and hot chocolate in our cups, we are focusing on others and on Christ this Christmas season. How do you keep Christ the center of Christmas in your home?
I love this. You are so dedicated and thoughtful in your approach with your children. It is inspiring for me to see a mom who is walking in such similar shoes as I “doing it all”. It gives me hope and drive to one day soon also be motivated enough to do all my day requires and also have time for the “extras” because teaching our children purposefully shouldn’t be extra!!! Hope that all came out right, lol!
