The Nitty Gritty.

My children have been sick. It’s just a virus. But out of the last three weeks I have had only a handful of days without someone sick. We have been stuck in the house during my favorite time of the year. And, if the pattern continues, it will be Monday or Tuesday before they are all well enough to get out. Any idea how far away that seems to this momma? So, I am racking my brain for projects to occupy us this weekend.

And then I make an effort to refocus. I pray. I take a deep breath and I pull another child onto my lap. I love being a mom. It refreshes me. It fills me with so much peace and purpose. So, why do I let Satan sow seeds of discontent and selfishness within me? I wish I knew. So, today, I am getting laundry caught up, mopping the floor and picking up the bedrooms. For tomorrow, come vomiting or diarrhea, it’s play day here!!! And I’m planning for it now.

Here’s what I have planned –

  • make a countdown chain to Jeremiah’s birth
  • build a huge tent in the sunroom and play in it all day
  • play playdough
  • watch some movies
  • read some books
  • and get lots and lots of rest and play and making memories
