Time 4 Learning Review – Computer based Homeschooling

This computer based review has been one of the biggest blessings to our homeschool thus far and it is for a very personal reason. Time4Learning is an online resource for computer based homeschooling. They offer lessons in all subject areas for grades pre-k through high school. A monthly subscription for a student in pre-k through 8th grade is $19.95 per month with a $5 discount for additional children. High School students can use Time4Learning for $30 per month for 4 courses.

Time4Learning

I have been using Time4Learning for Maggie who is in the 6th grade this year. This program can be used as your core curriculum or as a supplement to your main curriculum choice. With a monthly subscription not only do you gain access to 100’s of lessons in math, language arts, science and social studies but there are printable worksheets and parent tools that help with teaching and record keeping.

Maggie has been using this program daily for the past few weeks and she is really enjoying it. She has enjoyed having the freedom to choose what topic she wants to study next in science and social studies. But what is even more amazing is that she is daily asking to do her math lessons. I have been caught “choking up” more than once as I spoke to someone about this event. You see, Maggie and math have been an on going struggle in our home for the past 4 years. She hated math and it brought on tears and anxiety for her. But not any more, and it has been such a blessing. I don’t even have to tell her to do her math each morning. She heads to the computer as soon as her morning routine is over and before I know it she is done.

I love the record keeping ability that Time4Learning offers as it takes away some of the burden off of me. Plus, with access to the grade above and below the grade that your child is registered in it truly allows you to still have that personalized education that homeschoolers love with the ease of computer based homeschooling.

Maggie doing math. She has mastered fractions, simple geometry, and place value using Time4Learning!

We have also had lots of fun learning our states and capitals with the social studies lessons and doing experiments with water, ice, and water vapor during our science lessons. Time4Learning is one of our first experiences with computer based homeschooling and Maggie is definitely a new fan of this type of school.

  1. Amanda,

Didn’t know if you knew, but we use Time4Learning for our Language Arts, L.A. Extensions, and Social Studies. We started mid-year last year and I love it too! I am very excited they added highschool as well. :-) We use Teaching Textbooks for math which is very similar except it is not online. My son Corban went from hating math to loving it now and his grades improved immensely!!! Oh, and if you submit this review to Time4Learning you will get a month free. Just a little FYI for ya. ;-)
