So today I am choosing to find thankfulness. This Thankful Thursday is being written while I still have children that are crying with stomach pain. We had the stomach flu almost 2 weeks ago and two of my children (Samantha and Josiah) developed complications from it. They now have a temporary form of colitis. They have severe belly pain, lack of appetite, and fatigue. They can’t sleep due to the pain being so severe so needless to say we are all very tired. Jeremiah was sick two weeks ago with a lung issue and then I got the stomach flu and it spread from there. So after 15 days of chronic illness in the house I feel the need to focus on the positive, to see things inĀ better light, and to focus my heart on all of my blessings.
First off, my friends and family. I couldn’t make it through times like these without the support and prayers of them. Whether they are close enough to bring dinner, medicine, or even a treat for momma, or distance requires just a phone call or text they are there for me.
I am also thankful for television, odd to hear that from this woman isn’t it. But with everyone sick this normally rare treat has become a much needed everyday distraction. And it has allowed this mom to rest when needed and to walk away from sick children and accomplish a few things each day too.
My children must make it on this list too. While they have been sick as well when they have been well the older girls have been a blessing! They have cared for younger siblings, cooked meals, folded laundry, and gave baths. I couldn’t have done it without them.
Even in times of great trial we have things to be thankful for. What are you thankful for today?
