School Year 2012-2013

So it is August. This is the time of year when everyone is buying backpacks, crayons, paper and new clothes. But around our house we have been making the slow transition to a more school year round approach. And this has been the first year that we really haven’t taken a break at all. While during the summer we haven’t done a ton of bookwork, we have kept up our learning. We have written stories, done art projects, brushed up on our math facts with flashcards, speed drills, and computer time, and read, read, read. And I have loved it.

We have taken days off when we have had playdates, Bible School, or went swimming at Grandma’s house, but our school books have never been put in the closet this year. So, when I thought about writing this post it was a little different than other years. But still, in our state we have to log hours of instruction and that log must run from July 1st to June 30th. So, it is still a new year for us and here is what it is shaping up to look like.

Math  – We will still be doing bookwork for our math this year.
