The other day I had a couple of extra girls here and they were scouring Pinterest for things to do because it was so very cold outside. Well they found some great Pinterest ideas for girls. They made suckers out of Jolly Ranchers and melted crayons into fun pieces of artwork. A few paper candy sticks from our local craft store and a bag of Jolly Ranchers was all it took to create these fun suckers. We soften the candy in the oven set on 200 degrees for about five minutes and then rolled the stick into the candy. We tried melting the candy around the stick (first picture) but it just didn’t work well.
While the girls were taking turns melting their candies they pulled out the crayons and the blow dryer. And created some very interesting art work.
It was neat to watch the explore with mixing colors and noticing how different brands of crayons melted faster than others. They splattered the wax and held the paper at different angles and even dabbed the softened crayon on the paper to create some really unique artwork.
Then they tried this technique that most of us have seen all over the internet. It was harder than it looks but as you can see they were pleased with the outcome.
