A few weekends ago my family and I visited the St. Louis Zoo. We are blessed to live so close to this amazing zoo. Not only is it home to countless animals from all around the world, admittance to this zoo is still free. Not many zoos in the United States can say that now days.
This was Elizabeth’s first trip to the zoo and I am pretty sure Jeremiah didn’t remember it at all. We try to go at least once a year. We are close “er” to it but it is still an hour drive so we don’t get to go as often as I would like.
Elizabeth is just the most laid back, pleasant baby that ever there was. She had a blast just people watching from the stroller or gazing at the more active animals from Mommy or Daddy’s arms. We were so blessed with a super beautiful day that was nice and warm but not hot. After just a couple of hours it was super crowded so we didn’t end up staying the whole day but we got to see the “highlights” or at least the most important animals to my kids.
We saw the zebras, the big cats, the new sea lion exhibit complete with the underwater tunnel. You can see a little of that new animal habitat in the picture of Joe and Elizabeth above. We also were able to enjoy watching the gorrillas be very active this day. They were running and playing and eating. It was so neat to watch these amazing creatures interact with each other.
Joe doesn’t always get to go on these field trips with us so we were all so excited that he was with us for this visit. It just made an already good day, just about perfect!
