Most people love pizza but more and more the prices that you pay at your local pizza joint make it seem like you want to feed your family first class steak instead of just pizza. So, I have been working on perfecting homemade pizza that my family loves. And I was finally able to come up with this recipe. It is fairly simple to make and is very versatile.
I have used this dough recipe to make Stromboli, hot pockets, and even little pizza appetizers for a party. The possibilities are as endless as your imagination really!
This dough is easy to work with and is pretty much fool proof. I love to make it ahead of time and refrigerate it for use later that day. Here is the recipe
[recipe]
Pizza Dough
1 1/2 cup warm water
1 package (2 1/4 tsp) yeast
1 TBSP. Brown sugar
4 cups flour
Combine the first three ingredients and allow to rest for 10 minutes. Add in the flour and stir until smooth. You can knead it here as well although a ton of kneading isn’t necessary. I try to allow it to rise until doubled but I have also just mixed it and used it right away due to lack of time and it worked just fine. For thin crust pizza use a rolling pin and enough flour to coat dough so that it bakes nice and crispy. For pan pizza just use your fingers and spread the dough into an iron skillet or baking stone until the bottom is covered and there are no holes in the crust.
Pizza Sauce
8 ounces of Tomato sauce
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp Italian Seasoning
1/4 – 1/2 tsp garlic salt
Combine all sauce ingredients and stir to mix.
