This summer we were blessed to be able to attend a “family camp” of sorts. My parents opened up their farm to my family and a few other extended relatives and their families. There were over 30 of us there and the children largely outnumbered the parents. It was a lot of fun thought. Lots of swimming, trampoline jumping and more!
We enjoyed helping care for the farm animals during the weekend stay and we took a lot of walks and spent a lot of time relaxing as a family. Each father/husband took a turn offering a devotional during the weekend.
There was lots of time for families to bond and pour into their children. It was a great way to relax and unwind for our family because the camp actually took place 3 days before Elizabeth was born. We enjoyed getting away and spending time together before a week of separation.
Jeremiah chased some ducks, and the older kids fed the cows. We made homemade ice cream in ziplock bags and had a fun hotdog roast too!
I am so thankful for what this picture captures. To me it speaks volumes to the fact that you can have a very close relationship with each of your children even when you have a large family.
At family camp my Dad had created a great obstacle course during which an adult manned each station and before the children could pass they had to recite their family camp verse. It was a great way to memorize a Bible verse!
He had also built a zip line. The kids thought that this was the best part for sure!
