Maggie and I worked together recently on a review that is unlike anything else I have ever used. PeopleKeys is committed to helping unlock the full potential of people of all ages and languages. The assessments that they offer can help executives when hiring new employees, teachers that are trying to help students, and even parents that are interested in learning how to better teach their children.
We were selected to take the online Personality Style Report assessment (ages 13-and up). It consisted of 15 questions that we were asked to rank in order of how they described us from 1-4. It wasn’t hard but since I wanted Maggie to do it and she is a little young for the recommended age I did have to help her and explain some of the questions too.
Once the assessment is taken you receive the option to download your report and then they email you a copy as well. It is a lengthy and detailed report with not only your results but also information on all of the different personality types and how to notice them. They break them down using their DISC system as the following –
D = Drive • Challenges
I = Influencing • Relationships
S = Steadiness • Consistency
C = Compliance • Constraints
The personality report did indicate that people are using a combination of more than one personality style and even gave a situation and a reaction example to help us better understand each style. Next was information on why it was beneficial to know the personality styles. It made mention of helping us become better communicators, resolve conflicts with others, and positively influence others.
We then came to the part of the report that told us that Maggie was a “Communicator” personality style. Then we were given graphs to show us how each letter in the DISC system influences this style. It also listed this style’s emotions, fears, and values that they add to a team. This was spot on! I was amazed at how closely this resembled Maggie. It was as if someone from their company had spent hours watching her, observing her with her peers and even within the family. I couldn’t believe it!
The last 10 pages (I told you it was in depth and lengthy) offered great insight into all of the personality styles, how they effect different aspects of our life and even how the DISC system works to show us each styles strengths and weaknesses. It was very informational and interesting. I never expected the report to be so detailed and involved. The assessment taking only lasted for about 20 minutes with Maggie but the knowledge I gained from the report will help me to better teach and communicate with all of my children for years to come.
