Well as you have probably seen either on the Facebook page or here on the blog Elizabeth Ann is here and we are all settling in to our life as a family of 8 now. And while I am very limited in what I can accomplish while recovering I am the type of person that needs to feel productive to stay “sane”. So I wanted to make my 5 Weekly Goals things that I can do this week but still feel as if I am doing something.
1. School – I want to get in at least 3 hours of school each day. I have a lot of independent stuff set up for the kids and then some read aloud textbook work that I can do while nursing. I can’t wait to share with you our goals for this year and how we plan to make them happen but that is another post.
2. Homeschool Goals – I want to get these written out and shown to my husband for his feedback so we are ready to hit the ground running soon. I wanted that to be today but I didn’t get near as much done while in the hospital as I had planned. And frankly I am okay with that. I will never look back on Elizabeth’s newborn days and wish I had held her more. The other “stuff” can wait a few weeks.
3. Rest – By doctor’s orders I am to rest/nap each afternoon to allow my body more rest to heal faster. This is hard for me on any day but I am so blessed to be feeling truly amazing for less than a week post-op that I know this must be a goal or it won’t happen. But I also know that my body NEEDS the rest even if I don’t really feel that “sleepy” while I am up and moving.
4. Newborn Shots – I can’t wait to drag (or have someone else bring it all upstairs) out the newborn photography “toys” and have fun. What better subject than my own newborn!! And now I can take my time and try as often as needed to get some of those shots that I have tried but never gotten quite right.
5. Family Photo – Yes, I know that the last two goals are similar but I really want to get this done and my sister has offered to come over and help and I want to take advantage of that. Plus, with the cute number shirts that we had made for the hospital clothing for the children’s group shot is a breeze right now. Now to find something that I can wear a week post partum will be the hard part!
