Homeschool Math Supplement – Math Mammoth Review Written by AmandaS, June 3rd, 2013 Math Mammoth recently sent me three of the books in their Green Series books for review. We have been using the worksheets from their Measuring, Fractions, and Multiplication and Division reproducible pdf books. These homeschool math supplement books have been a great easy addition to our homeschool math program. The Measuring Book in the Math Mammoth program covers grades 3rd-6th and offers almost 50 pages of worksheets for only $4.25 for the download. This makes a great measuring unit if you have children in different grades or can be used to reinforce or master basic measuring problems. I loved this book because it was basically a ready to use math unit. It challenged my girls beyond their “grade level” and gave them a great understanding of most common units of measurement. The Fractions Book is also a great collections of worksheets for grades 3-6 and for just $6.75 for the pdf download you can help that struggling math students to master fraction concepts that they are struggling with. The worksheets cover not only fractions but also mixed numbers, simplifying fractions, and basic math functions with fractions. This collection of worksheets is best suited for grades 3-6 but could be used remedially for almost any age. This set does not focus on learning the basic tables though. One thing that I should note that kind of caught me off guard was the absence of directions and explanations on the worksheets. There are very few directions and most of the time my girls needed help figuring out what to do on at least one part of the sheet. But this homeschool math supplement is just that. These worksheets assume that your child has a basic knowledge of the information and has designed the problems accordingly. Measuring real life items as we learn about different units. We have enjoyed using them and I love the pdf format that allows us to use the worksheets over and over again. Many of the sheets, especially in the fraction book use real life math or word problems to help the children visualize the concepts. The measuring sheets include exercises that allow the children to get up and move and measure items around them to build a better understanding of how different units compare. The multiplication and division book is a great review resource although my oldest daughter did find that there wasn’t enough room on the worksheets. The problems are written very small and very close together. That was frustrating to her as many times she even had trouble getting just her answer to fit in the blank when she worked on a separate piece of paper. I have found that although we aren’t big “workbook” homeschoolers that these books have been a great way to check for understanding, challenge the girls, and to pull from on those super busy days when mom needed something “easy”. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
