My name is Amanda Sikes and I blog at Our Heart and Home I am a homeschooling mother to 5 here on Earth, one in heaven and one on the way. My husband is a pastor of our small local church and I love ministry life. I can also often be found in the kitchen. I love to cook and bake and to try new things. This Homemade Banana Pudding recipe was given to me by my mother in law and it is always a hit with whoever tries it.

Banana Pudding
1 1/2 cups sugar
2/3 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
Combine these in a pan. Slowly add in 4 cups of milk whisking briskly until smooth. Cook and stir over low-medium heat until it boils. Boil for 2 minutes longer and remove from heat. Slowly add in 6 egg yolks and return to heat for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in 4 tablespoons of butter and 2 teaspoons vanilla.
Now, line the bottom of your bowl with vanilla wafers top with a thin layer of pudding and then a layer of bananas. Repeat until all of the pudding is used. Chill until cooled and enjoy!

You can even get creative with the “pudding” part of this recipe and add some cocoa powder for chocolate pudding, eat it as is for a homemade vanilla pudding, or freeze it for some yummy pudding pops! I love knowing that this pudding is homemade and didn’t come out of a box and yet it is much easier to make than I would have expected. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does!
