During my first trimester I can often be found lowering my standards on how clean we keep the house. Due to morning sickness and lack of energy, I maintain the needed items and the rest are considered “extra” and only touched when I have extra energy. Many times our normal family chores don’t even get done on a regular basis because momma isn’t there to prod the young ones along. But Saturday was different. Saturday I felt well, the sun was shinig and I………
Cleaning the window during Family Chores
Wiping down baseboards is a great chore for children.
And I got bitten by the cleaning bug. So we spent HOURS and HOURS on Saturday cleaning. The children thought I was going to kill them with all the work. We mopped floors, dusted, washed windows, cleaned ceiling fans, and wiped down baseboards. I threw out a TON of paper off bookshelves in the children’s rooms and packed away some toys in the basement. It felt so good. I love getting rid of clutter and not having so much stuff crowding my space.
Mopping and sweeping.
Even the youngest of us helped in any way he could. If you could call his help, “help” but he was sure proud of himself so no one discouraged him.
But, in the true nature of life and family don’t stop by expecting to see an amazingly clean house from all our work. Things have already been spilt on the mopped floor, toys once again litter the playroom, and there are already piles building on top of dessers. Sigh. I just consider it job security.
Aww… I love photos of the little ones “helping.” My husband often laughs at me because I refuse to re-clean while the little guys are awake (they are so proud of their work), so I spend many evenings re-washing windows and mirrors. You are a smart momma to allow them to help out.
It’s great that you get the kids to help clean around the home. My son likes to help also
