for the season.
This year in our house we have chosen the “slogan” , for lack of a better word, “Be a light, Shine for Jesus”. We are choosing activities that help our children focus on shining for Jesus. We are striving to encourage them to think of ways that they can show His love to others instead of focusing on their wants right now. One way we are doing that is our “adoption”.
You see, the children and I have adopted a wing of our local nursing home. We have been crafting for hours each day in preparation for our decorating party that will take place soon.We have ornaments to hang and pictures to place on walls. The girls have practiced Christmas songs on the piano for the residents too! It will be a morning of serving others and focusing on those that don’t have as much as we are blessed to have.
My children love to craft and this has been amazing way for us to spend time and resources on lots and lots of crafts this month without feeling like they were “wasted”. With four children now crafting we tend to have an over-abundance of ornaments and Christmas projects and drawings, but not this year! This year we are using the children’s God-given talents to bless others in our community.
We are “shining” for Jesus this season! How are you and your family “shining” this season?
