Loving Your Church

Today, as I write this “the church” is referencing the church as a whole. In some places “the church” might be refering to the members as individuals, but not today. Please keep that in mind as you read this post. Today, loving your church is loving them as a whole. Each member and each leader put together as a whole. Showing the world your priorities as you love your church. Loving them so you can shine for Him in this world.

The biggest and best way to love your church is with your time. Making attendance a priority, not only on Sunday morning, but whenever the doors are open. If the church is going to function well, and as a body as Christ has created it, every member must be present. Christ has put each and every church together. He has called the people there with gifts that will compliment each other and work to strengthen other members but also to be an effective light in the community. Without all its parts no body functions as effectively and the church can’t function as well if some parts are rarely seen.
1 Corinthians 12:25-27  …so that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. Now you are Christ’s body, and individually members of it.

We can also love our church family by training our family. While I believe 100% that the father should be the spiritual leader of the home the mother’s are with the children (in most cases) more than the fathers. If we are not continually reminding our children what dad is teaching during family devotions, if we are not supportive of him and following through with the rules and guidelines he lays down, we are undermining his God-given authority. If dads do not train their children in the ways of the Lord the church will not be as effective. It is not the church’s job to offer enough children’s classes to equip children for the Christian life. That responsibilty was given to the father’s

Psalm 78:5 – …..Which He commanded our fathers That they should teach them to their children

If children are not trained at home the church can’t focus on outward growth and saving the lost when their own members are not raising their children to love and serve the Lord. Love your church by equiping your children for service.

Matthew 6:21 …for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also

Love your church with your offerings.
