With only five weeks to go I am planning, cleaning, and cooking for my baby-cation. I have always cleaned prior to the birth of each child, but I haven’t ever really had to focus on the cooking and planning parts. But with two girls in school and many more children now the planning and cooking seem to be VERY important to me this time. Not only do I want school to continue on in some fashion, there are piano, speech, and Spanish lessons to plan for and find someone to “cover”. Plus, feeding this family is a lot more involved now and its not as simple as when baby #2 came along and we could eat take out for a couple of weeks as the main staple. I mean, seriously, I am already thinking, brainstorming, and searching for ways to be able to have food for the kids at the hospital to avoid buying out that whole week. It would get seriously expensive for my kiddos!
So, while stuck at home this week with a sick little boy I have been list making and I thought I would give you all a baby update as well as a “baby-cation” planning update.
So, how’s baby doing you ask? Well, he is measuring right on track for where he should be, as have all my babies. He is head down and engaged which doesn’t matter much to this c-section momma except that now I can breathe and get some relief from the heart burn of the third trimester. I am still gaining water weight like crazy and am swelling EVERYWHERE, hips, thighs, face, hands, feet, legs, I have it it’s swollen right now. All of the water is taking its toll on momma’s body. I am more achy in my joints and my arms, wrists and ankles have started to have spells of this weird tingly pins and needles, creepy crawly sensation. It’s hard to explain but its pretty miserable. But other than that I am doing great. I am so excited to meet this baby its seems like it will never get here! I am still able to care for my own house and children and do the steps required to keep up with the laundry so I am very thankful!
And now the baby-cation planning. I have started to stock pile groceries and prepared food. I want to avoid running out all the time and also the added stress of having to prepare food in those early days of adjusting to a new person in the house. So, I have added yeast rolls, cinnamon rolls, banana bread,, enchiladas, meatloaf, ham and beans, and maybe others that I am forgetting now to my freezer. Today I am baking zucchini bread to add to that and boiling chicken to make some tortilla soup and burritos for the freezer as well.
